If the facility doesn't have a Medicaid bed or accept Medicaid, then, yes, a move will be required.

Many ALF and MC facilities do not accept medicaid and are self pay. It often states this on intake papers. They are usually very upfront about this.

If you are facing this, it must feel daunting… have courage, one foot in front of the other..
consider finding a placement specialist, they will do the leg work for you. I’ve placed my mom twice, both specialist were my saving grace….

Even if an MC and AL except Medicaid, they may have already hit the % of residents they allow. Medicaid does not pay what private pay does.

Some places aren't approved for medicaid - room sizes and cost I think are some of the issues looked at by medicaid. Unfortunate. So sorry you will have to move your loved one. I hope they still get good care. Sometimes the same organization will have another facility that is medicaid accepted.
