Freedom67, please remove the name of your Aunt... this private info should not be shared on a global forum for her own protection.

We aren't detectives so can't find her for you. There is probably a reason why your sister is not divulging her whereabouts. Often it is because "well meaning" people are interfering with the care decisions of the elder made by the PoA (which is probably your sister).

There are always 2 sides to every story and we are only getting yours. I'm sorry for this family strife. If you doubt your sister is your Aunt's PoA or legal guardian, then you'll need to pay an elder law attorney to send a letter to your sister informing her that unless she shows proof of PoA (ie the documents) then you will take her to court and have the judge force her to show proof. But then what? If she is the PoA then you are out of that money and still won't have access to your Aunt.

If she isn't the PoA, and if your Aunt is not cognitively able to assign one, then she becomes a ward of the county and you may still not be allowed to visit her.

If she is capable of assigning you as her PoA, there will be legal fees associated with this. Then, are you willing and able to take on this responsibility? It's a lot of work...

OP, is this person the POA for your Aunt? Is your Aunt currently not competent in her own choices?

What familial squabbles are there that may have contributed to this choice by your sister, if any?

Can you go to Hawaii to visit? How about Skype or FaceTime? Phone calls? Try it. Hugs 🤗
