Shoulder pain without a known cause or injury can be a heart attack indicator. If she hasn't been to see a doctor, go NOW

What treatment? Has she been to a doctor and been diagnosed with something that's causing the pain?

I have arthritis in both shoulders but it's much worse in my right one. I was taking a prescription NSAID but I think it was making me dizzy. So I've switched to Bio-Freeze, a non-prescription roll-on that has menthol and other things. I just ordered it from Amazon (professional strength) for my brother, who also has the same issue. You roll it on and the area feels very cold and doesn't hurt for some time. Something like Icy-Hot at any drugstore would be similar. There are also creams made from red peppers (Capsaicin) that are supposed to be good.

There are also expensive prescription Lidocaine patches. My mom had back pain and used them. Insurance had to approve them because they were so pricey, but they numb up the area.

Has she seen a doctor, and what treatment has be tried? Which shoulder? My first thought was angina/heart pain, are you certain it is not that??

I agree with the other posters. Bear in mind that even if we were medical professionals here, it would be unethical and even dangerous for us to try to diagnose someone from a few vague sentences or even at all. Grandma’s pain could be anything from a heart attack to sleeping funny. Get her to her doctor ASAP.
