My father is unable to give guidance with this decision due to the status of his health. His estate currently pays approximately $400 a day for live in caregiving done in his own home. So this is not a new care plan, just that I will be doing the care giving instead of the mediocre caregivers sent to him by an agency.
PS: Yes this has been well thought out and I understand the enormity of the task at hand.

Find Care & Housing
You have the answer, $400.00 a day, plus his share of costs to cover the rent, food, utilities, etc and he buys all of his only items.

This amount has been established through the agency, so you can legitimately charge the same plus the other.

Typically caregivers are paid $25-$30 an hour, depending on their capabilities. For example, caregivers that are capable of safely transferring people from bed to wheelchair, or are LVN/s are paid more. Caregivers that are only expected to keep a patient company and mostly just chat are paid at the lower end of the scale.

How can he have an estate before he’s dead? Can’t happen where I live.

As long as you are making a care contract consult the attorney about pay. Also make it clear when you will have hired help. Also make it clear about reassessing the arrangement as you go. Not on us really what you get paid; something for you and the person who is paying you to discuss, imho.

TKZMTJ, I know you probably thought this through, will your Dad be using a payroll company to take out payroll taxes, or will you be doing quarterly estimated taxes to the IRS, and to the State? You would be making close to $150k a year, and if no estimated or payroll taxes are sent, the IRS/State will attach a large penalty to taxes owed by you.

When it comes to cost, it would be less expensive for your Dad to move to senior living. When my Dad was in Memory Care, it was around $7k per month or $84k a year. Then your Dad would get good care, plus be around people of his own age group, that is what my Dad loved about the place he was in, plus the food. I was able to be his daughter once again, instead of a frustrated logistical caregiver.
