My dad has a strong immune system and in excellent health otherwise. I think these drugs don’t help. He hallucinates a lot on them. For sundowning there must be a better more relaxing Med that actually help. Cbd made him to sleepy. He has more anxiety on these doctor recommended drugs then before. What’s a solution??

My husband did not do well on Quetiapine, he is now on Divalproex , Trazadone and with extreme anxiety I give him olanzapine in the evening. I don't know if there is a drug that will help with hallucinating because it is a sign of alzeimers plus sundowning but these do help

Another name for this drug is Seroquel. Even though its used for Dementia patients its not recommended.

"Quetiapine is a medication that works in the brain to treat schizophrenia. It is also known as a second generation antipsychotic (SGA) or atypical antipsychotic. Quetiapine rebalances dopamine and serotonin to improve thinking, mood, and behavior."

It is also used for BiPolar. Call the doctor that prescribed the med and tell him its not working.

Any and all drugs worsen my mother's dementia significantly. Considering dementia/ALZ is a brain disorder, I wonder why doctors think giving mind altering medication is going to HELP them in any way? For some people, certain meds do seem to work. For my mother, they exacerbate an already horrible situation. Nothing helps. She was recently put on a small dose of Zoloft which has improved her horrible mood, but has worsened her dementia/confusion. So it too was a trade off. Better mood and a bit less OCD/anxiety for more mass confusion.

We had a poster here who swore up down and around that the BioMat mini with amethyst crystals (that heats up) calmed his dementia ridden mother down like nothing else on earth. Turned her from an enraged lion into a lamb. The small ones (by Richway) are $700 but there are places that rent them and sell them used, too.

It may be worth a try to rent one, I don't know. At least it's not a drug but a soothing heating pad type of thing that won't hurt him in any way.

Good luck!
