My mother has vivid dreams and trouble waking up and distinguishing the dream from the reality, especially when I give her Melatonin. I am cutting it out and now am trying tryptophan hydroxylase. This also aids in the production of seratonin. I'll let you know how this works out.

Good point, Wendala, about pharmacists. I generally recommend that they be consulted on any medication questions since that is their specialty. It nothing else, their input helps educate us and gives us more information when we ask the doctor questions.

Simple answer is yes. As we age all meds are metabolized differently. If you are concerned, call a pharmacist you trust. I get better information from them than the doctors.

It's harder for all of us to metabolize drugs as we age. That's why older people should, under many circumstances, be prescribed lower dosages of drugs.

Sleeping pills can be very tricky for older people. Some even cause more memory issues. I agree with staystrong that melatonin may be a good option, but check with her doctor.

Please keep us posted. We help each other.

I find they are and my Mom's Doctor refuses to give her anything but Melatonin. Mom has such realistic dreams that she has a hard enough time knowing what is real and what is not.. But you could check with a Doctor.
