Dear Cover, thank you for your reply, which made me smile happily. This one is to wish you a New Year that is as Happy as possible. You are coping pretty well! Lots of love, Margaret (Perhaps sending my love will make up for my earlier snotty comments! Yours make up for yours)
Dear Cover, thank you for your wishes, and so nice to get such a happy post from you. I think you are getting a bit happier yourself, and I do hope that if it’s possible, your health can get to the point where you can find somewhere to live that really suits you. Love, Margaret
You're very welcome!! Thank you for your kind words as well!! They are really appreciated.🙂
I try to stay positive, which can be a little challenging here. There is so much turnover and turmoil here; it's bad enough the NP quit ,( yesterday was his last day) and they're trying to hire new people, including a new Social Worker, ( previous one quit as well,).
Bad for them, but good for those people in the medical field, there is competition in Northeast Ohio for these positions, so this facility really has to recruit to hire people.
Thank You for the health wishes as well!! This aspect is definitely going in the right direction, thankfully; the home issue is now the sticking point, hence the need for the Social worker or even business manager to be the point of contact for the application I want to submit for assistance. Thanks so much again. MargaretMcKen Love Cover 🙂
sp, So did I. I deliberately left my phone in the car while at my daughter's yesterday. I did not want to be distracted and it was wonderful. I enjoyed a beautiful day with family and friends. I felt more present than I have been in a long time. I am going to disengage more often in the future.
I've resigned myself that for me 2024 is going to be more of the same or much worse. But at least I had a nice Christmas. I do have that.
It made me miss the old days when no one had cell phones. I think we forget how distracting phones and technology can be. And as a precursor to 2024 the check engine light on my car just went on this morning on the way to run some errands.
Merry day after Christmas everyone. I spent the past 2 days without any technology at all - by choice. No internet, no phone, nothing. Just chilled with hot cocoa, watching anything but Christmas movies and eating snacks. It was great but I am ready to get 2023 over with and move onto 2024. Not because I think 2024 will be better - it probably won't (at least for me) but because I am over this year and want it out of here.
I for one always feel so happy when the day itself is just behind me. When the stressful lead up has magically dissapated & left fond memories already of another year, a lovely time spent with family & friends.
Merry Christmas to everyone on Aging Care forum! To those who celebrate Christmas as the Birth of Jesus, and to those who don't, may this day bring you peace, understanding, wisdom, and Joy!
The love and joy just keeps spreading.
I gave away white diabetic socks (ordered too many as health insurance benefit spend down-use it or lose it). There was some surprise wrapping and ribbon from neighbors gifting to me, a real surprise! So I started wrapping up the socks, and a few night lites as dH was cooperative to deliver them.
It came upon a neighbor that no one likes, and no one acknowledges. Sure he needed a gift, a card, but dH gave me a look. "What?" he said. I said, "It is a matter of your heart" -whether he wants to deliver it or not. We never have met him, concerns that our selected card with nativity would offend others, but dH makes a good delivery man. He did it! Why would I need to be silent, but others don't need to be silent?
Even though I was late, so happy to be a part of it, the celebration of Christ's birth.
It's so nice to be wished Merry Christmas! Despite the hardships of caregiving, I hope that everyone feels a bit of joy in their hearts on this special day.

Love Cover 🙂
Very nice, save for what happened last night (another thread) it was surprisingly not too bad, especially being at the facility.
I've resigned myself that for me 2024 is going to be more of the same or much worse. But at least I had a nice Christmas. I do have that.
I hope it was as you expected it would be!!
