Sometimes it takes someone from the outside, it their any possibility of hiring someone to come into the home to do physio exercises (it doesn't necessarily have to be a physiotherapist, just someone who can follow the prescribed routine)?

And having something worth walking for would be helpful as well, if it is possible to take the person out for coffee, lunch, shopping, the library or whatever it would get them moving.

What do you think is the main obstacle?

Pain?
Fear?
Feeling too tired and/or weak?

I agree with CW that getting the person started is often easier for an outsider. Was the broken hip repaired surgically? Wasn't PT offered at the time?
