Ask your moms primary to order Physical Therapy. They can assist you in learning the proper movements for you to use to help her.

Your profile says you mom: "...is 76 years old, living in my home with alzheimer's / dementia and mobility problems."

Has she been formally diagnosed with ALZ? I don't think you can have her PT for her but Cwillie gave good advice on how to protect her from the consequences of lack of movement. I strong encourage you to view some Teepa Snow videos on YouTube to become informed about Alz/dementia so that you will have appropriate expectations and know how to best help her now and in the future. Blessings to you for your concern for her.

If she truly doesn't move on her own any more then she should have some passive range of motion therapy so she doesn't get contractures and she will need to be repositioned often the prevent pressure sores. If she still has the strength to stand and pivot getting her up into a chair for part of the day would be beneficial as well, a supportive tilt in place wheelchair can allow her to leave the bedroom to join the household activities, it even makes it possible to leave the house for walks or other activities.
