Getting husband to take a shower is becoming problematic. He used to shower every day before dementia. Do I need a home health aide to come in?

From what I have read on these forums, being afraid to take a shower is common. It could be the fear of falling in the shower, and/or the fear of the water. Sometimes I wonder as we age if we become claustrophobic especially if the shower has shower doors. I know I have to keep the sliders open a bit at each end for myself.

There are skilled trained bath Aides that can come to your home to help out. I heard they are worth their weight in gold.

I had a bath aide for my dad and she was wonderful. She was in and out in 30 minutes and my dad was left feeling refreshed and clean. Talk to your husband's Dr. about getting a bath aide.
