My blood pressure is 140/60.  Top number is high but bottom number is lower that articles talk about.

I can't comment on that number, but, do you know if your BP stays at that number much? I invested in a home BP machine that works pretty well. It's tricky, but, once you get the hang of it, it's not bad. I take mine every week or two at different times of the day to see how it's going. Most of the time, mine is between 125/70 - 129/80, however, when I get to the doctor, sometimes it's 140/70 range. Usually, I've driven in traffic, struggled to find a parking spot and may be a little uptight when they check my BP. I check it in the pharmacy as well. My dentist ALSO checks BP and shockingly, mine has been excellent in that office!

Jeankay, with blood pressure pills it takes awhile to find the right dosage.
Sometimes too high a dosage will make you feel like you could pass out from standing up quickly from a sitting position.

I know in the past a number like 140 would be a concern, but as Layne mentioned above, it depends upon age. If you are in your 60's, the 140 is now more accepted then it was in the past. But it also depends if you have other health issues, etc. Best to ask your doctor.

I was told by my PCP that a lot depends upon age and quality of health. I am 63 years old and mine was 115/65. I have no health issues. So, they told me that was excellent for me. If you're concerned, contact your doctor just for your piece of mind.
