I’m looking for a caregiver for myself. I have ALS and Colon cancer with a Ostomy bag. Dallas, Tx

Find Care & Housing
We aren’t a hiring agency, just a group of caregivers/family across the world that come here to chat.

Given your medical needs, I’d contact an agency that deploys actual nurses for quotes. I’d also carefully consider going to a facility that provides this type of help as it’s likely the less expensive option.

Sorry, but what I think you need is to be in a facility. I know its probably the last place you want to be, but your only going to get worse. Or call Hopice and see how they can help.

Your local options will be:

- social services for your county to see if you qualify for limited in-home help or talk about qualifying for Medicaid now or in the future and what that means for your care.
- your local Area Agnecy on Aging (if you are a senior 65+) for resources
- call 2-1-1 for resouces
- consult with an elder law attorney to make sure you have a plan for when you are no longer able to manage your own care if you don't want to become a ward of a court assigned 3rd party guardian (although if it turns out this is the only option, my family personally had a very good experience with a court-assigned guardian for my step FIL).

I wish you much help and wisdom, and peace in your heart as you find the best care and make plans.
