On Monday I had to take my husband to Urgent care. He was running a temperature of 102, was hot to the touch, weak and flushed. He had a UTI and was placed on Bactrim for 7 days. Tues and Wed he slept alot and appetite was low. Thursday he was feeling better so we grabbed pizza out. Friday he seemed more like himself and did some stuff around the house. Today he went golfing.
My daughter is an RN in a LTC facility. She says UTIs in men are rare and dangerous. They can become septic very fast. Now this is why I posted, daughter says that at her LTC they are finding great results in an old medication, Hyprex, that is helping in keeping UTIs from coming back. She says residents who have chronic UTIs after taking Hyprex have been clear of bacteria. Just thought this information would help for those whose family members keep getting UTIs.
