My husband always shops at Whole Foods. We like our local Whole Foods store a lot. Every employee wears masks and gloves, along with shields at the register. Tape marks off the appropriate distance between customers.
There are a few products that we buy at locally owned stores. One store disappointed us during this health crisis.
My husband was shocked that absolutely none of the employees at this store had on masks or gloves. Only one other customer besides my husband was wearing a mask and gloves.
My husband sent an email to the store saying that we were loyal customers and wished to continue being future customers.
My husband explained in his email that he was uncomfortable that none of the employees were protected, nor were they protecting others by having bare faces and hands.
So, in a couple of days he received a phone call from the manager in response to the email saying that since it wasn’t a corporate policy that the employees were free to do as they pleased.
My husband replied by saying, “Don’t you feel that it should be a policy since Louisiana’s governor has asked all of us to wear masks in public?”
The store manager said in a cavalier attitude he wasn’t all that concerned. When my husband politely told him that we would be doing all of our shopping at Whole Foods because they chose to follow our governor’s regulations, the manager acted as if he did not care about losing customers.
Has anyone else seen cavalier attitudes among certain stores or businesses in your area?
If you don't like the lineup and wearing the mask that extra time.. leave, comeback again when you feel it's more convenient...
Recently two of our police officers were shot when they responded to a call.
Thank God they are going to live but the whole situation is tragic.
Personally I'm adding a couple of picnic tables to the porch and yard and I intend to visit with people outside over the next few months and only allow a very few people also practicing social distancing in my home. While my brother continues to work in a factory, we will visit on the porch. TN has a tuition free public home schooling program already available and we might just use that for the kids in the fall. The boys might attend football practices on the field later this summer, but we're already thinking no locker room contact. There are lots of things we can do to reduce risk while still returning to a more "normal" life. I've purchased a document camera/projector so I can remote tutor the kids. My nephew is adding a "summer" bath with an outdoor entrance to the working garage so kids visiting the pool this summer do not need to enter the house. We're not going to invite the football team over but some neighborhood kids and cousins will be here for an occasional day or two. I will stay in the house and watch them through my windows, put some food out on the picnic tables, and then spray the tables down with a Clorox or Lysol mix. It's not a zero risk, but it will be a low risk life style.
Oh, and the idiot pastor at the Pentecostal church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana has been arrested! Yep, he has been warned over and over. Well, now he will get his day in court and pay a fine for his selfish ridiculous behavior! He was led off in front of his church in handcuffs.
People died because they went to a service with over a thousand people in attendance for Easter.
I have a daughter living in Baton Rouge, attending Louisiana State University. Pastor Tony Spell isn’t a caring Christian leader. He’s on a huge ego trip! His latest thing is telling his congregation to donate their entire stimulus check to the church. He is certifiably crazy!
No one wants to live the way we have been these last several weeks but safety must come first and has to be our number one priority.
Our governor is a responsible man and not rushing to reopen anything that isn’t absolutely necessary at this time.
Our mayor is being responsible as well. They absolutely feel it would be irresponsible not be cautious in light of our serious situation here. We’re still considered one of the hot spots.
Take care, everyone. Respect and love each other. We will grow and learn from this if we all work together for the common good.
Life is short. Cherish what is good in your lives. The rest doesn’t matter. Have faith. Support our frontline workers. They need us. God knows, we need them!
Love to all 💗.
Swedish nightclubs and outdoor cafes remain open. The country has limited public gatherings to 50 people, a more modest restriction that takes effect Sunday. Officials have said keeping people physically and mentally healthy is another reason they’re keen to avoid rules that would keep people indoors for too long.
Per Sweden’s chief epidemiologist: “The goal is to slow down the amount of new people getting infected so that health care gets a reasonable chance to take care of them." He argues that Sweden’s less restrictive policies are more sustainable and effective, even if they are an “anomaly” during the pandemic.
The goal is NOT to be ABSOLUTELY SAFE and have ZERO cases. THAT IS NOT POSSIBLE. The only way to be absolutely safe is to be dead.
We are shut down. We have had a significant amount of funerals and funeral directors must tell the family that only 10 people along with social distancing.
Our governor is desperately trying to flatten our curve. I am glad that he and our mayor are being responsible during this crisis. I pray for all frontline workers. They are working so hard in our city.
Hugs 🤗
He didn’t want to disappoint me by not getting everything on my shopping list so he said he kept his distance from others as much as possible and went as quickly as he could.
He did write the email to them. He did receive a call back from the manager and was sorely disappointed with his response. He was quite cavalier about the whole situation.
He is only shopping at Whole Foods. They are doing a wonderful job complying with all recommendations from our mayor and governor.
We have always shopped at both stores but will absolutely be loyal to Whole Foods now.
It’s a ‘I will scratch your back and you scratch mine.’ kind of deal.
We have to get everyone on board with this. If people naively think we can slack off they are deceiving themselves.
We can look at the stats in the hot spots and see how rapidly this Covid-19 can spread. It doesn’t take long. We were one of the fastest growing areas. It’s awful.
This isn’t our first go round of a challenging health disaster in New Orleans. Long ago many people died with yellow fever here. Google it. It was heartbreaking for our city.
We must learn from these disasters and do all that we can. I am proud that we have a mayor in our city that cares enough to take this so seriously. I am grateful that we have a governor for our state that is looking out for our best interests as a whole.
New evaluations will be made as we see how things progress. For us, these are still tough times.
You have a compromised immune system and others need to respect that. I do. I would gladly wear a mask to protect you from my droplets. You are doing the right thing by wearing a mask for others. Thanks for wearing your mask.
That's too bad...
I have noticed the same thing at the main grocery store in my town. I only go out of house for groceries, once - every 7-10 days, as my 84 year old Mom lives with me and has only one lung. (Am terrified I will bring something home to her.) so I glove and mask and sanitize, before, during and after venturing out. I was AMAZED at how many folks are just "rolling the dice"...I guess it is their prerogative, but it feels very unsafe, scary and certainly uncaring.
Seems like we see the self-serving ugliness of folks, especially during Christmas Shopping season and now during Covid...
Geeeez, healthy children are dying with this disease. I wholeheartedly agree with you! Why take chances? I would be afraid too of bringing this back to your mom.
It’s not only wearing our masks but wiping everything down after returning from the store.
Best wishes to you and your mom. Stay safe 💗.
My daughter told a few of her friends that I was making masks and that’s what started it.
They want some that I made in LSU colors. I don’t mind. I’ve known these young women since they were young kids.
Oh gosh, does anyone remember the sleepless nights when we hosted sleepovers?
I will be mailing them to Baton Rouge where she is attending college. I am not going to drive over an hour away just to put on their doorstep.
It would have been great to see them graduate this year but safety comes first.
And then you think...Hay, hey... maybe I am one of the lucky few who won't get it.. and my anti body, or anti sanitizing will make my home invulnerable. Yup.. I am going with that thought for now... my poor family.. they stay home mostly.. I do the shopping with mask...
Today on the road, in their cars, windows rolled up,, driving... about half the cars I see are wearing masks while driving...??? Gosh.. I felt bad.. I rolled down my window to tell the driver next to me (masked on him and his passenger) that his brake light was out... I almost felt like he thought I was nuts.. He's may be right..
It is mandatory to wear masks while shopping, in public... If you are caught walking around in public park,,, you can get sited and fined $1,000. I guess you get a warning first time... I don't know.. took my dog yesterday to a park..let her run around a bit and left. without notice... nobody came up to us... I guess we weren't around enough to get noticed.. Wait, nobody was there to notice us...
I guess perhaps it was a big enough park... But really... I was wearing sandals.. so... I suppose the rule should be: Mask, gloves. and disposable foot coverings, to keep away this covid... NOt sure where to buy disposable foot covers...
Bad news, her anxiety is up, I didn’t realize how much this was bothering her. She seemed like she was handling it well. She called me yesterday to chat and told me that when a shopper gets too close to her in the store she holds her breath and tries not to breathe.
She only has one week left of online classes at her university and then finals before graduating. She’s stressed because she has interviews lined up in Denver and the airline has canceled flights.
We wear them in my state and I am glad. I haven't been in a store in a while, but I hope I see employees wearing masks when I do go into one. I think I would send an email to corporate if I spoke with a manager who had a flippant attitude.

2 ER docs talking about the realities of the data after treating covid patients for 2 months and examining the science. We may in fact be wrecking our immune systems by NOT exposing ourselves to germs and viruses. What will happen when these orders are lifted? The sickness levels are bound to rise up THEN.
It's a long video, about 55 minutes, but very interesting. I'm sure they're not saying to expose the very elderly to the virus, but for the rest of us, it may be high time to lift these restrictions and get back to everyday life.
Will check it out. I think because of this thing being new, it makes it confusing for many of us. Experts are still trying to figure it out.
Not worth it to lose a job over not wearing a mask. Sad that he was stubborn.
Do they supply masks for employees?
So thank you to everyone who participates!!
I feel the same way. It is essential to be respectful of each other’s views in order to have an intelligent conversation.
I do feel sorry for people who have small businesses. They are all going to take a hit.
We have stipulations too. Our governor placed fines for people putting others at risk such as Pastor Tony Spell holding large services in his Pentecostal church with over 1300 people present.
That was foolish and dangerous to risk infections and deaths which happened. People became infected and died.
When he was asked why didn’t he stream services like other churches he responded by saying, “I can’t stream because I have to lay hands on people to pray for them.” That’s fine if a coronavirus wasn’t in the air. Not a good idea to be touching each other now.
Please! Does he even understand that social distancing means NOT touching each other? So sad to see these situations. He will get his day in court and will most likely be fined. Then again, I am not surprised by his actions. He also claims to pray away HIV and cancer.
Yes, for believing Christians miracles happen but that doesn’t mean common sense is thrown out of the window where people are placed at risks by being careless.
We have people sewing masks and donating. I have been sewing many, many masks to donate and still doing so. I hope people are sewing masks in their area to donate to those in need.
This morning, that news video disappeared from my History and Watch Later... Please note that we will see a decrease in conflicting news of the virus... And be subtly educated only from a single point-of-view’s perspective...
I will need to go to these individual news channel and follow them. I can no longer rely only on YouTube’s channel for unbiased (conflicting or not) news.
