It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. I shouldn't have to start a new question to get input about a chronic issue like understaffing. Why are the other questions all closed for comments? Is someone trying to push neglect under the rug? Just asking.
Yes, WA state doesn't have any laws about care giver to resident ratio as long as the job is done but we all know for-profits are cutting every corner they can, erasing grace from the residents' lives! I guess I'm just feeling like a deer in headlights, can't believe there isn't more regulation and that people are allowing this.
As others have said, postings run their course and close. It doesn’t necessarily make those posts unimportant. You can still read the comments and gain insight if you wish. The other choice is to start a new thread like you have.
I doubt if anyone would deny neglect in a situation where understaffing is an issue.
So, what is the alternative? In a home care setting, there may be understaffing too. One person at home cannot adequately do the job of three shifts without becoming exhausted.

I live in an HOA board run community and 'understaffing' is the current excuse for why one FOOT of snow STILL hasn't been removed from our streets 2 days after it fell. We pay $265 a month in dues precisely FOR snow removal to be done in a timely manner, too. Short staffing levels are a very real issue in our new post-Covid world now, not just in the elder care field. Folks are being neglected left and right b/c nobody wants to work anymore, period.
You can always post a new question, as you have here, and get lots of comments until the post gets old itself and closed down to further comments.
Just feel free to open a new thread, Mary. I am unaware of the one you speak of. Sometimes threads go into personal bickers between people; when this happens the admins often close the thread to further comment. I don't really know other reasons your thread may have been closed, but if you wish to discuss staffing levels ongoing the Discussions threads below the questions thread may give your thread a lot more action and time visible.
