Susan and Rodney Bruner, Franchise Owners
Susan has more than 30 years of experience in health and care-giving professions as a registered nurse, and Rodney has extensive business experience with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA.
Susan recognized a need to provide seniors with home assistance while working as a case management nurse at a local hospital, where senior citizens were being discharged on a daily basis to homes with no caregivers and no ability to take care of themselves. She realized with her nursing background and experience and Rodney’s business background, they could together provide a valuable and much-needed service to the seniors in their region. After researching various business opportunities with other senior care providers, Susan and Rodney chose Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care services because the organization’s co-founders and other franchise owners give their hearts to those they serve.
Susan and Rodney both have previous experience caring for older family members as well as others through church activities and volunteer opportunities. They attend First Christian Church of Columbus. Susan is a support group facilitator for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
“We have provided care and assistance to many people along the way,” Susan Bruner said. “Between my nursing experience and my husband’s business know-how, this is a perfect fit for us as a couple.”
Susan and Rodney were both born and raised in Indiana. They have a family of six children between the ages of 21 and 31 and five grandchildren. Besides spending time with their children and grandchildren, Susan enjoys reading and gardening and Rodney enjoys classic automobiles and outdoor activities, including gardening, camping and skiing. They also have two cats and a dog named “Oreo.”
Rodney, who was raised in Union City, has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University and an MBA from Radford University. Susan, who was born in Columbus, has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Indiana Wesleyan University, and she is certified in oncology and case management.
